San Carlos
Deer Country
Bright, clean and colorful, you wouldn’t think this beautiful, terraced garden was just recently a dark collection of legacy plants that weren’t doing so well.
With a limited budget, limited knowledge on plants and renovation, and high expectations, this San Carlos couple were after a tidy and simple garden with pops of bright colors all year round. Landscaping in a windy area perched on a hill, with concerns of erosion control, we chose to install many sturdy evergreen plants in different colors, forms and textures as the foundation, which would look great through the seasons. We also brought in interesting surprises like flowers from Hellebores, Douglas Irises and Leucospermum to add extra pops of color in the Spring. Located in extreme deer and gopher area, it was vital that plants were deer-resistant, and that we used gopher cages for every plant on install to best protect the garden. The brand-new garden brings serious curb appeal to the home, with the couple now hosting many more friends and family in their beautifully bright space.
